Soldering Iron

Does anybody in the Oxford area have a soldering iron that I could borrow? Typically, have discovered I need one just after returning from home where I could have used one...

I certainly have access to plenty... I'm not sure I could liberate one, but I can ask the robotics crew when they're finished talking very loudly about other stuff about 2m behind my desk. Is your need for soldering the sort of thing that could be brought over here if necessary?

Yeah, I'm just trying to change the battery on my palmtop.

Don't they build things so changing a battery isn't such a mammoth task? :-P

Anyway, the lab is nice and quiet (well, just full of computer fans, clicking keys etc.) again, and I've ascertained that the soldering iron downstairs isn't borrowable, but that it should be fine for you to come over and use it. The only difficulty is that I don't have a key for that particular lab, and almost everyone who does is leaving for Switzerland tomorrow. If you want to solder stuff in the next few hours, it's really easy. If not, I can find out about time constraints and get back to you if you like..

The next few hours would be fine if that's okay... is there solder there, or should I pick some up on the way?

Only problem is that I currently have no phone... could I arrange a time to meet you outside or something? Assuming you're in the same building...
