Fandom: Persona 2, Jun/Tatsuya
Prompt: Make-up sex - “Let’s just start over.”
Author's Note: It's been forever and a half since I've looked at the Persona scripts, so this is probably AUish and all wrong... ._.

"Let's just start over," Tatsuya complained, brushing his hand over the game board. They didn't play games like this often, but it was raining, and Lisa had been taken out of the city with her father. Even though both Jun and Tatsuya had asked for all their friends to come out and play Masquerade, it seemed fate was keeping them apart. At least, that's how it looked to a pair of kids who weren't usually alone with each other.

"Calm down, Tatsuya." Jun gave his friend a shy smile, even though he was winning by a landslide. There was no point in continuing the game; no dramatic turnabout was going to shift the result in the slightly sullen boy's favour. Yet, Jun wanted to play on.

Even though they went to different high schools, homework was homework and math was math. The school district never deviated from a somewhat similar curriculum, which meant that when one boy had a subject on his agenda, it was almost certain to appear in the near future on the other boy's. Jun was smarter than Tatsuya but Tatsuya was more clever than Jun, and that suited them each just fine. When it came to essays, Tatsuya would tell Jun to start over, because his work was boring and dry. When it came to math, Jun would tell Tatsuya to start over, because his equations were close, but not right. They got A's, together.

Tatsuya kicked the flower pot in a fit of rage. "Why can't you just start over?!" As Jun watched with dismay, the dead plant fell over and soil spilled to the ground. He had gone away from Sumaru City for a week and had asked Tatsuya to water the playground plant for him. Sure, it was supposed to be taken care of by city maintenance, but they somehow always forgot, so Jun had taken it under his wing. It wasn't an act of pity. He had wanted to see how his influence would affect the flower's growth.

"You can't start a life over again..." he said quietly, trying not to upset his friend any more. He knew Tatsuya didn't care about the flower; he was upset that he'd broken his promise.

Jun searched Tatsuya's face for every emotion it contained, because Tatsuya wasn't speaking to him anymore. Some fights didn't make a difference, but this one... this one... It was hard to only look at him from a distance. Jun desperately wanted to touch him, to feel his skin one more time... but that's how this damn argument had started! One touch too many, after hundreds of carefully planned smaller ones leading up to their first kiss. The plan had worked right up until he had nudged Tatsuya's legs apart. That's the exact moment he freaked, and pushed his childhood friend away. Maybe for good. Jun wasn't sure, anymore. If anything, all he was sure of was that he wished he could go back in time and start the day over.

"Can we...start over?" The hesitant words that came after such a long silence that Jun would've liked to be able to jubilantly yell how relieved he was that he hadn't been left alone. Instead, he nodded simply with his bangs covering his eye and demurely stepped forward. After a few seconds of nothing wherein Jun waited patiently for Tatsuya to make the first move, he felt two hands on either side of his waist, carefully not scrunching his blue uniform. He could feel Tatsuya's breath on his throat as he closed the distance between them, and the nervousness, the fear and the uncertainty of what would happen between them if he choose this, if he accepted this.

"I love you, Tatsuya."

It was their first kiss.
