[Progress. The PCD flickers on with the clicking of buttons and a surprisingly intense orchestral piece. After a few seconds, Ciel pauses, closing his eyes. Slowly, it seems as though words filter through here and there. He lets it stretch until it's almost audible, and then he takes a deep breath, letting it go. The song fades, and Ciel's mouth ( Read more... )

I didn't know you could even make games for the PCD.

[She looks at hers, sort of awed.]

But, ah... what are those games?

It's fairly simple. The PCD's can be programmed to hide conversations, track locations, screen them, and to have those defenses broken into -- far more complex than simple animations based on fixed rules and the input of the player.

It was a matter of expanding upon a related idea.

[She nods. Understandable.]

Ah, but, what are those games, anyway? Chess... poker?

Chess is a board game.

[He tilts his head, considering her appearance -- the Orient.]

Something like Go.

[Ciel has a shadow, diligent eyes merely watching. Human games usually don't keep him occupied for more than a few hours]

[Ciel, of course, will spend hours testing his new prototype. It's the sort of work he would bury himself in at home -- testing, research, marketing, improving. It's something for him to do, something to occupy him during waking hours, to break the monotony of the day.]

I like video games! I'm not very good at them, though. Are you good at them? What kind of games are you making? Can you make one like the one my sister always plays? It has a lot of trees and some water and you run and jump and I always land in the water and Buttercup teases me, but it's still fun!

[Woah woah woah one question at a time. But he relaxes into the persona he uses for the smaller children he hosts, a calm smile, and answers her questions one by one.]

Not all video games require a lot of practice or skills to enjoy. I am a fan of them myself, and yes, usually. Mostly I am making replications of board and card games, but looking into others.

It might be possible, in the future.

I didn't know they worked like that. But.. I guess if you can put games on cellphones you could put them on these too.

Oh, well, if you have the chess game I suppose you won't need me anymore.

The game still requires two players.

So... you'll still play with me?
