Wow, heavy. Very glad you posted the rest, and I do love the poignancy of it. Though being one of your readers from long ago, it saddens me to think of what may have happened to all of the old characters I had grown to love. As soon as you mentioned that Joe's actual name was Gio, my first reaction was, "... Skids?!" Ah well.

I re-read the whole thing before I read this.

Thanks so much for posting, even if it's been a while. It's a beautiful story, and would have been an amazing comic. I cried for Efren. Thanks again. I don't have a Tumblr, but I'll try to keep following you.

Yeesh. Gotta be honest, I don't think OPB would've held my interest going down this particular path - it seems to shift its focus almost entirely to characters I find substantially less compelling than the Pamplemousse gang and Hilary. Still, points for innovation: I don't think anyone's ever tried fusing Lovecraftian horror and slice of life...
