kittyneal: apparently the Pope's aide claimed Britain was like a third world country kittyneal: quote unquote hamdrax: ...I see hamdrax: well hamdrax: i think the catholic church are "LIKE" a great hideous acidic cancer on society hamdrax: so there you are.
Mum is firmly of the opinion that he needs to be shut up in the Vatican with no visitors, and then we just let him write letters and sign shit that we then take away and carefully incinerate.
I mean, I've read an article that points out that it could all just be them trying to draw attention away from the whole, you know, creepy child molesting outrage. But even so it's a particularly ridiculous way to go about it.
Well..he was in the Hitler Youth when he was in his teens...
One of the people I work with took the day off to go see him, and the day before we were discussing religion etc and she was all 'it's basically because people don't want to believe in God now that's making this country fall apart'. I pointed out that the opposite was quite true too though - that people can take it the other way and just become fundementals about their religion.
I'm just annoyed that it's gonna cost us £10-12 million to have this troll visit us >_>
Technically Hitler Youth was a conscription group so kids didn't get a choice in the matter, but you'd think he'd at least have learnt his history.
Yeah, I read an article from an american newspaper that was outraged about the UK being so 'rude' to the pope.
Also, the idea that christianity is being marginalised is laughable. It's still the main religion in, oh, the world and people aren't ignoring it because they're being persecuting or oppressive, they're ignoring it because it's hateful and generally just wrong.
