Can-Con: An Update

Jan 22, 2011 22:45

Those of you who have been curious about Can-Con (whether about the convention last year or the one planned for September this year) soon will have their curiosity rewarded.

Next Sunday, Jan. 30, the Ottawa Science Fiction Society (OSFS) will have a number of members of Can-Con’s organizing committee come to show and describe the events of last year’s convention and to be advised what is planned for this year. Last year, we had a turnout of over 140 people, who came to see our Guest of Honor Marie Bilodeau, Special Guest Larry “the Doctor” Stewart, and several other Guests delight, amuse and awe the audience. This year, the event will move to September 9-11, as Worldcon in Reno takes place in late August, which was the weekend we used last year. We have as Guest of Honor Julie Czerneda, the hotel will be the same as last year (the Travelodge Hotel Ottawa and Conference Centre on Carling Ave. near Westgate Mall), and several other Guests will soon be joining us as well.

For more information, please come out to this meeting. It runs from 2 pm to 4:30 pm, it is located at Room #1 of the Dalhousie Community Center (at 755 Somerset St. West by the corner of Empress Ave, in Chinatown) and there is free admission. Some other details may also be found in the Can-Con page at Wikipedia.

I hope to see you there!
