Raise taxes, for fuck's sake. Geez. How did people become THIS afraid to raise taxes? It's obviously reasonable. The budget spells everything out. You can't say "No, don't raise taxes!" when they're cutting out vital and basic services.
It's an American malady. Okay, Canadians have it too, but a lot less so.
I love this, in a grim way; it's like they're _choosing_ to have a failed state. Is the police force slashed far enough that it'd be possible to establish a TAZ? They'll certainly see a lot more drug production and transshipment -- business seeks a favorable regulatory environment, whatever the article of commerce happens to be.
It would be nice if politicians did what was best for their community instead of trying to put on a lot of flash just to keep getting elected. But then, they wouldn't get elected if they did, would they? Or they wouldn't get elected again, at any rate.
