I just got stung on the face by a bee :( Ow. Still, that will teach me not to go right up to the hive without my veil on

I've always spelt it with a "q" and am surprised that it looks right with a "c".

I think it looks weird with a c too! We just had a horrible moment after spending several hours stick labels on bags and filling them with charcoal when we noticed that the two bags of bought charcoal we had said "barbecue".

Barbecue = British English spelling
Barbeque = variant US English spelling

The spelling of the word with "c" is closest to the original Spanish word that the English is derived from apparently (says the big OED I've got here anyway).
