I believe that is the same toxin that caused the madness associated with the Salem Witch Trials?

I think the fungus in the trials was Ergot.
I'm not sure if this is the same thing or not -- isn't ergot hallucinogenic?
This is quite deadly in some cases.

Aflatoxins!

I thought that was mostly removed from the US grain supplies, or at least, it was exceptionally rare.

It's pretty rare, yes. We didn't talk much about it in school, and when we did, it was for large animal grain supplies, etc. This is pretty rare for a food company for smallies to have this problem, as far as I know.

Aw, damn. That really sucks :( I hope that even the stupid pet owners take this seriously... I've heard of aflatoxins on peanuts before, but never realized it may be present on grains.

Yah and it's a hell of a shipment. Looks like none of it came to Michigan, but still!

The Channel 4 website shows some came to MI, and Diamond's own website said some may be in MI...

Hopefully it's only a few bags here and there and quickly noticed.

Whoops! That's a change from what they said right at first. Jeeze.
I hope our clients are paying attention!
Thanks for the link!
