Moving. Again. Some more. :)

So we're mostly moved into the new house. It's gorgeous, though I keep having those "Holy crap! Adults live here!" moments. I have the bed together and the cats are more or less resigned to another change in their personal landscape. We're nearly out of the old house, doing a few final runs to pick up stuff, and the cleaners come on saturday, ( Read more... )

Daughter has told me of your move and I've been pestering her for updates. It sounds like all is going well which is what I want to hear.

Poppyseed-hazelnut cake! I LOVE poppyseeds. LOVE LOVE LOVE

And I love your cooking!

is a family recipe. I have the cookbook along with my mother's rather ironic "keeps well" written in green marker on the page. tellingly, if you allow the cookbook to fall open it opens right to the poppyseed hazlenut cake. And it involves poppyseeds soaked in 1/2 and 1/2, vanilla, and hazlenut custard. SO GOOD.

Also rum sauce. :)

Heck, pop and peter might be on their own.... ;)

And I love cooking for you! I shall have to do so again sometime. :)

How are you, dearheart?

You soak the poppyseeds. I've never heard of doing that. It's cute that the book falls open to that spot. That says it all.

Can't leave the boys alone. They'll resort to hotdogs and drink the hotdog juice as a chaser. Better to feed them well so they know they are loved ;)

You absolutely will feed me again sometime. I've not a doubt of it. I will be a happy girl to sit with you and chat away as the pots are bubbling and the smell alone almost takes us to heaven.

I'm doing alright. Dad and I will huddle together and get through this first year's worth of holidays as best we can. Neither one of us know how to get through this grief but we are doing it together. It is not real easy to try to work through this with any honesty when it is a child listening to one parent deify another one. I'm either gonna go loopy or be crowned as a saint. Maybe both.

Thanks for asking, sweet lady.

Well, I am proud to say that if pop settled for hotdogs they'd be good 'uns. But, yes, a well fed family is a well loved family in my book, and I am so looking forward to letting them into my quasi-grownup life. And scared, too. This is the first visitation of this sort since I moved out on my own, mom's ill health took most of our common attention for so long, so it's a bit disconcerting, too. Hopefully it will be a wonderful experience for everyone, and if so perhaps a new tradition.

Keeping fingers crossed....

*hugs* it's so odd how that works. I remember what a pill mom was capable of being, but mostly I remember the good stuff. Sainthood may be close by, here's hoping no more loopy than is necessary for survival. :)

Massive hugs!
