This week has felt like a race to the finish line. We've been trying to clean out our old house and get it ready to show to potential renters. A friend of a friend of mine heard about our house being available for rent and we wanted to be able to show it to him. So, wait. You had to put money into escrow to ensure that you would fix things in your own new house. How does that make sense?

Also, if you need any mesh fiberglass tape, 100 grit sandpaper, or (fairly weak) spray adhesive, let me know. I doubt I'll use it.

And yes, it is entirely retarded that you have to lock up some money in order to fix things in your house. What they want you to do is get a quote for repairs from a contractor, then give the quote to the mortgage company, and then they will pay the contractor from the money you gave them. Doesn't quite work as well when you do the repairs yourself.
