I scored as Ursula Le Guin, which is interesting as she was probably one of the first fantasy writers I read.

Ooh, a high-brow, eh?

I don't know about that, but I love language and I think that comes off as high-brow sometimes.

I'm Lian Hearn. I'm not a big fan of fantasy, so I see why I've never heard of her.

I'm not a big fan but I do think she should be required reading for perpetrators of fan-girl Japanese in their fics. She manages to maintain a really good sense of historical Japan (to this western barbarian) without ever using a Japanese word. For example, she never says "katana", it's always "sword"

I got Orson Scott Card. I've never read his stuff but sounds interesting!

I read some Card back in the day. I really liked the short story, "Ender's Game" which he later expanded to a novel that was also pretty good but, as far as I was concerned, he just drove the whole thing into the ground. I haven't readm any of the Alvin Maker (I think that's the guy) stuff.

So you're Mormon and openly homophobic?

He writes pretty well, but most of his books end up being messiah novels.

Um no. I read the summary to Ender's Game and thought that was interesting. I don't really care what his religion is in order to check out his books.

I got Lian Hearn too. Never heard of her but she sounds like someone I might enjoy reading. I think it's interesting that you and I got nearly the same score for brows and cynicism. I was in the low positives for the other 2.

I'm more of the word vomit type of writer. I don't see myself as a fantasy reader even though I read so much manga and tween vamp books (the tween vamp stuff is more so I understand what Rachel is reading).

I don't think I've read Jordan either, but my uninformed opinion (why let a lack of info stop me from having an opinion-mine change so easily anyway as they evolve) of a tale "...set in a world where half the source of magic has been tainted by the Evil One, so that only women can do magic without turning insane..." is that I think it would be more interesting if only the women could do magic because they were insane.

I wonder how that would work itself out.... Interesting meme with a decent level of depth.

I like how you think! (re the insane women mages)

I did think this quiz had some slightly more interesting options than usual.

Those generator memes bore me. The results can be amusing but, ehhh.
