Filler arcs are what they put in the anime to keep it from catching up with the manga -- at the least the filler arc I'm talking about is -- so I'd say, "no".
Unfortunately, the anime doesn't seem to be available around here at the moment. CartoonNetwork was showing it at some ridiculous hour, like 2:30 AM, but it went away, or on vacation, or something.
Bleach is one of the shows P and I watch weekly but it is very uneven.
One advantage, aside from the whole grades thing, to not starting it up until after your schooling is when you do start there will be a nice sized cache to race through.
I can never remember the names of some of the characters so as it's starting I'm saying to P, "Isn't that the guy who's always too busy with all his women to hang with them?" P didn't remember the guy even after I expounded so knowing his name wouldn't have helped but I do think it will be interesting to see events from another point of view. If that's what they are going to do.

P and I caught up on about 200 eps of OP in 3 months. Of course, we have a big kid and watching OP is family togetherness.
