A Meme? Kill Me.

I am of course supposed to be doing homework, but instead I got roped in to henry_ze_4th's

Tori to begin with, obviously. As angry as I get at her these days, I think I would truly suffer never hearing "Caught a Lite Sneeze" again. I can't really explain what this album did for me... got me through puberty, I suppose. It was also the album that helped me sway oliveoyl away from apathy and towards something like Ears with Feet.

'62-'66 While I agree with Kyle about the necessity of full albums, of not breaking up a story, I've also realized that being on a deserted island is the only place where a compilation actually makes sense. I can't bring Revolver and Rubber Soul and A Hard Day's Night--and wouldn't want to-- I so need "Eleanor Rigby," "Norwegian Wood," and "And I Love Her" and would sacrifice most other songs to have these three together-- though is a two-disc album cheating?

I remember the fist time I shared this album with anyone, it was with a guy I had a horrible crush on. I put it in and said "Leading off with 'London Calling?'"-- and after the look I gave him-- "You started a Clash mix with this song?" I have felt superior ever since.

Paring down albums is hard, and I always forget that Joni makes the cut every time. Each song is fully separate from the others but does not suffer for it. Easily her best album.

Okay. I'm a hippie. Forget his current desperate grasping for the legacy of a soul singer, he was perfect when he wasn't trying. Perfect. This album tells a perfect story, always clear in my head.

Some of the many Runners-up:
Beirut The Flying Cup
Portishead Dummy
Charlotte Martin Stromata
Weezer Pinkerton
Pat Benatar Crimes of Passion
Radiohead Kid A
The Cure, any and all.
Same for Björk.

I expect to see the same from anyone who has bothered to read this.
