People. PEOPLE. I've become so bad at this LJ thing that at this point all I expect is for you to kick me, but in case anyone still wants to have anything to do with my sorry ass, please do not hesitate to check here! (And if you follow, let me know who's you unless you have the same username ( Read more... )

It's good to hear from you here. I really feel that people shouldn't feel forced to communicate in ways that don't work for them, but at the same time, it's fucking awful to wind up losing people to platform drift. Tumblr really doesn't appeal to me at all, so I'm still, mostly, business-as-usual on Dreamwidth; I say 'mostly' because I'm not always comfortable with public circles so I've been doing some of my recent blogging in private recesses of Deadjournal because Deadjournal is explicitly for 'journals no one wants to read or even host' and that is amazing sometimes.

You should know, I've mostly moved IM platforms recently because AIM was being a cock to me. I'm still available on Gtalk and on MSN/skype, if you ever want to hit me up.

I agree with you on both the not-forcing-people thing and the fact that it's sad when contact just disintegrates due to stuff beyond our control. For my part I don't even know for sure at this moment which platform I prefer. Tumblr has started to solve some specific needs I seem to have now, plus a lot of people have moved there. On the other hand, LJ still has a much better commenting and privacy system! I don't know...I might be sort of switching back and forth now. I'm also just BAD at maintaining more than one account equally (you see that with my DW and Plurk)...

Oh, was wondering why I didn't seem to run into you often on AIM anymore. I most certainly do want to hit you up, PM me your usernames on these? (Or if AIM decides to work okay for you at some point, IM me there with them, doesn't matter.) I've missed you!

Oh duh, meant to add my handles. I'm athenemiranda at gmail.com on Gtalk, athenemiranda at hotmail.com on MSN or Thene A on skype

Okay! I um need to figure out which one of these to get or go back to using, ahaha. I technically have gmail if that works for gtalk? I guess it's fine to use with you even if it's meant to be my "official" email account I otherwise tend to keep to "official" stuff... XD

I already said hi elsewhere but...HI!!

Totally get your guilt about leaving/not using LJ by the way. It has a very specific and narrow set of uses. I know I could probably get the same benefit from keeping an actual journal but...it's so habitual. And like you said - so much a part of me. I can't imagine life without it.

For me, having all the different options (Tumblr, Facebook, instagram, etc) is so overwhelming that I just stick to what I know, even if what I know is dying. (I DO have a Tumblr though and I'll probably get around to following you and using it more regularly sometime in the not too distant future.)

It's nice to read an entry of yours again :)

HI HI~

Well, with an offline journal you wouldn't have the interactive part of the experience, though! Which...sounds really funny coming from me who hasn't been around here in months, I know, but. XD And yeah, even if I did leave LJ for good at some point, I could never delete. I might be embarrassed about almost everything up to, say, 2010 by now, but AT SOME POINT IN THE PAST it was real, yo.

Haha, I can't imagine what would happen if I had facebook (I'm staying away from it due to my problem with its shitty ToS). It's true that popular platforms have proliferated recently which isn't bad in itself, but it makes it more difficult to keep in touch or have some overlap. I find it hard to maintain the accounts I already have signed up for with equal attention as it is, not because I don't WANT to but because there are times when it feels like stress (usually times when I'm otherwise stressed out, which tends to be often because I'm always so busy and overloaded with things that need to be done). If you follow me on Tumblr, just let ( ... )

Haha, yeah, even though I'm pretty much always talking into the void there's definitely a different mindset between writing down something here and something in an offline journal. I kind of like writing like I'm announcing something to a group of people. And oh God...I don't even want to go back and see my earliest entries. (I'll have had this thing for ten years next May, oy.)

For me, Facebook works best in keeping up with people who don't live nearby, but if they opted to use a different social network I would probably abandon Facebook. Cause yeah...very, very shitty ToS. I wish there was a master social media thing, so you could just have one account and pick and choose then kind of stuff you wanted to use it for.

And I just followed you. I'm mel-is-maybe-writing and I never update, ha.

I've been basically ignoring everyone who hasn't moved to Tumblr.
Good, I'm mostly ignoring people out of LJ. I don't feel so bad about it now you mention this. :D I don't really care in what form people post on LJ. ;) I just find it convenient finding everything in one place. I've been too lazy to read individual blogs/blog-like sites and felt quite guilty about that. :)

Hello, by the way! :)

Aww, I guess it's hard not to ignore someone somewhere with all the platform migration going on. In any case, hi, glad you're still around! Let's enable each other not to feel bad or guilty, then. :D

Hellooo!! I missed your posts quite a bit (I mean, you're one of the few people whose blogs I still read and I've been reading since, probably 2006 after meeting you on mediaminer). I can't complain though, since I do the same exact thing. I popped back in, only to drop back out when things went bad for my family (I can't really talk about it here though, but I did post briefly about it). I did follow you on Tumblr awhile back. I'm called Azuretastic there.
