Gardeners Unite!

Hey all
Quick question

I agreed to help plant a garden here soon and I am looking for suggestions or ideas on what plants to get! I have never planted this late in the season. They want something flowery and pretty. Non-invasive and perennials preferred. And no doubt I'm under some sort of budget.

Any suggestions?

I think part of it is in full sun but most of it is part-sun. I have to dig out some pics of the area.
Thanks for the offer in sharing, but I think our distance may be an issue.

*hugs*

Green Thumb here! Where is the "here" you speak of? A site at faire? Near yours and your man's place? When it all comes down to it, I recommend species that are semi-native to the area.

Mums, as boring as they are, bloom until really late fall when winter and frost takes them away.

Sorry so long to respond.

Yeah it's out at fairesite. I am thinking mums, since they will prolly bloom during the run, but was looking for any other ideas. Dan and I are heading out to site this Sunday to look it over, and I should know better how much work there is to do.

thanks!

Alrighty, having just been to meijers- most places are still selling the Purple Cone Flowers, Black Eyed Susens and Marigolds. I recommend these because they stand up to Michigan's weather. Impatients are usually cheap, but they might be getting leggy in the stores. You could always get a hanging basket and hang it from one of those gardening stakes. Day lilies come in all sorts of colors now a day. All these flowers will bloom all summer and all except the impatiente will come back next year and look even more full. Use big rocks to fill in space and give interest. Fun fun fun!
