My snark appears a bit broken. I've tried to MacGyver it with some sticky tape and a rubber band, but bear with me as I get back to speed.

Being a recently outed (to HP anyway) crack head, it probably comes as no surprise that I LOVED this idea. Snape the silly wabbit - just OMG - the adorably ANGRY-that-he's-such-a cute-widdle-bunny!Snape. Snape is as close to sweet as I can picture him while still in character, working through the rationalizations he needs to justify feeling protective and well, attached to the boy. I wish there was more, as some of the detail felt a bit sparse, but really it's only maybe another 500 or so words away from set.

um?
I cannot read more than one WiP at a time or I get cranky and the stories start running together and making less sense than why Chewbacca lives on Endor. Right now
cruisedirector has me, so this will have to wait until it's finished.

I think we're on a collective zoology kick here on the good ship ss/hp. Not that I'm complaining, this is sweet. The cliché of Snape the unwilling slave who cannot love until he is free is played against an image of a boy who has more freedom than he knows what to do with. The author was very conservative with her words, personally I like more development because it *can* be a complicated emotion. But I liked it. Of course NOW I'm wondering what form Snape and Harry's Animagi will take next? Perhaps a snappish turtle and a curious monkey?

somewhen beyond the sea
A short scene of a memory in a memory. Vivid. Character piece, not a plot piece. Elegant.

Post war
I always have difficulty with the self hating Snape speech. "You're so bloody marvelous, Potter, and I'm just your greasy-git potions master. Why oh why would you ever want meeeee?" Here we have Potter and Snape as friends, and the inevitably awkward moment that develops when your friend discovers you've hired a porn actor to dress up like him and then filmed him being buggered enthusiastically by an actor dressed like you.
Whoopsie, hate when that happens. Naturally once you've revealed yourself to a friend as an obsessive stalker type admirer, the next logical step is to reenact the porn you commissioned. Then describe the incident in minute detail and send it to Penthouse Forum. Happens to the best of us.

Post War
I was sold at the first line. So, coincidently, was Snape. This is what a Snape the post-war slave fic is meant to be: Snape and Potter poised to murder eachother in their sleep. Perfect! The author tackles a society being awkwardly thrust into slave values deftly. Potter the avenger, to Potter the tyrant, to Potter the miserable little boy in yet another situation he cannot control. That this twists around the moral ambiguities to an touchingly innocent!Snape and almost virginal!Potter is just ...OMG.
The supporting cast was great. Post school Ron and Hermione often annoy the piss out of me and make me wonder why on earth these people are friends. Here they were actual characters who develop and do things other than whine. Making the system to be the bad guy left the usual suspects: Draco, Pansy, Hermione, etc. to be people. Even Scrimgeour was just a flawed human.
Now for my dyslexia of the day: I kept reading "cook" as "cock" throughout this. Which honestly? Brilliant. The way to Harry's heart really was to cock for him, and fortunately Snape loves to cock.
