I am counting the days until I leave this snake pit. If not for the stories I get here and for one or two people at work who make this beat bearable, I would have given up. Little Defeats
It seems that I cannot finish a good book recently. For the past weeks, I have started and stopped reading Elfriede Jelinek’s Wonderful Wonderful Times, Iain Banks’ Walking on Glass, E.M. Working on a holiday
Last night, my brother and I had a Lord of the Rings marathon. Which had us thinking: why do fantasy authors favor rangers/nature lovers to become future kings? Aside from Aragorn, son of Arathorn, other ranger-kings include Richard Rahl and the guys from Terry Brooks and RA Salvatore books. Walking In Taipei Streets for 2 Hours: Priceless
Taipei---Rain cut short the shopping trip and I'll go home without the right presents for the nearest and the dearest. The other night, Ron and I spent about, um, two hours walking and exploring the city streets, looking for curios and discreetly gawking at people. Birthday Girl
I was up and running by 9 am and spent the next five hours talking and running after people. Just after lunch, I got a slight headache, but I had to work. Three days of early morning calls and hurried writing! I couldn't even think straight. It's over now and I'm going to bed early with a good book. E. has invited me to her house to watch critically acclaimed movies from the 70s and 80s. I just had somebody tell me I was introspective to a fault
Either way, I'm damned. If I say yes, we'll make a fool of ourselves. If I say no, I end up as the evil one. I'd rather have the latter. I can live with it and at least I don't have to do anything.
