part i.
Character name: Hasibe Ozcelik
Fandom: Original
Species (vampire, werewolf, what have you): Faqra witch
Character powers: Hasibe is not human, and unlike many so-called monsters, she was not born human, nor did she ever have a period of time in which she believed she was a human. Furthermore, unlike many monsters, she is not a creature of flesh by design-she is mostly spirit, and it is the spirit which, when her abilities are not bound, makes her uncontrollably dangerous, capable of causing geomagnetic storms and tearing through the souls of civilizations without meaning it. Unlike her fallen ancestor, she does not have thousands of years of experience in controlling what she is, and as she matured, became increasingly lost as to how to deal with her overwhelming psyche. The body was just not made to house the kind of power she was given at birth, and as a result, it destroys the shell; this is what has happened to many of her family members. Hasibe first bound her powers at sixteen and then again at twenty-four or so, and she's staying that way. Having them bound is what lets her participate in society.
People who are allowed access to her mind may observe that the process to bind her psyche was pretty haphazardly done, and she sometimes suffers headaches or periods of weakness after using her abilities and straining the bindings.
Said remaining abilities are as follows:
- Magic, or spell-casting in general: stormbringing, geasa, curses, etc. In her world, witches are made of magic, innately, and the spells they use to channel their power are often heavily tied up in religious affiliation; Satanic practices like animal sacrifice or goetic ritual do sometimes apply.
- Psychokinesis, psychometry, and hypnosis (as a telepathic measure); she cannot read surface thoughts, and the latter two of these are things that require ritualistic performance beforehand, usually tarot cards for psychometry. She is naturally resistant to mind invasion and control.
- Physiological differences like nightsight, extremely toxic blood with effects similar to datura (although tiny, tiny doses will serve as a hallucinogen, any more than that and you'll die horribly), unusually good balance and flexibility. No super-strength whatsoever, in her case, and no healing factor unless it's a spell.
- Charismatic affect-it is not a compulsion or mind control, mind you, and is not obligatory-that is especially heightened in close emotional relationships. Those who earn her genuine devotion may learn it is not unlike that of the leanan sidhe, in that it can encourage greater ambition, creativity, and personal success, but comes at the cost of their gradually weakening self-restraint and encourages obsessiveness. If the object of her affection is aware of it, this can be managed, but it's sort of unexpected.
- Soulcraft, which is innate for all faqra-level witches, and which goes unused, in her case.
Exposure to the plant witchbane, when put into her food or burned in her presence, weakens all but her soul-related and physiological differences, eventually making them completely inaccessible. Use of her abilities weakens her until she can rejuvenate via meditation or vice indulgences (which are one of her foci), and has the added detriment of wearing at her bindings. She is a skilled dancer and has learned a little kalarippayattu per a friend's recommendation, but ultimately she's not the brawler type.
part ii.
1.) Is it acceptable for your character to be mind-controlled or persuaded? How susceptible are they to mind control, hypnotism, or suggestion? Not at all! :D Faqra can be mind controlled only through a ritual that involves making a really disgusting potion out of the body of another witch. If you are interested in going that far, let me know, and I will most likely be up for it, but it takes a lot of work.
2.) Is it acceptable for your character to have their mind read? Does this include traumatic memories? What is their mind like (disturbing, orderly, joyful, surprisingly empty, etc.)? If the character has psychic walls or preventative measures against psychic interference, please explain. She's pretty well-bound against psychic readings, but if someone does get in there, they're most likely to be confronted with the psychic surgery and its left-over scars, which make it apparent the binding is a total hack job and barely containing her, even actively hurting her.
3.) Are thoughts mentioned in narration acceptable for a telepath to pick up? No, sorry.
4.) What about emotions, in the case of an empath? What sort of general emotional reading would such a character receive from yours? No, sorry. But she's quite emotive in general, so it's not hard to read her visible cues.
5.) Are there any aspects of your character's mind, emotions, or memories you would like to be picked up, mentioned, or used in character? Conversely, is there anything that should not be noticed, or at least never mentioned? N/A unless it comes up in plot--I'm open to investigation, especially her getting dimed out for what she is.
part iii.
1.) Physically speaking, what stands out about your character? Imposing size? Physical scarring? Tattoos? Uh...well, she's beautiful and knows it, and she plays it up; she's not cocky, but she is a woman who is absolutely perfectly aware of what she brings to the table. Visible modifications only include a small arcane tattoo behind one ear, which are the 'codes' for a wand or staff. Non-visible modifications include nipple piercings and a deep red and black Scheherazade lily on one shoulder blade. She wears expensive, elegant perfume, usually Guerlain's Mitsouko.
2.) Is your character immune to any of the following: poisons, chemical agents, telekinetic influence, radiation, or types of illnesses? Some poisons, to a degree. She doesn't get things like strep or common colds.
3.) Is your character physiologically different from a human in any way? This can include their blood, skin, hair, et cetera being made up of something unusual or simply differing in construction and durability. Her blood is toxic, akin to datura, in that a tiny tiny amount will make you trip balls for two days. Any more than that and you start freaking out and ripping off your own skin and eventually die.
4.) Are you amenable to having your character be harmed in any way? How far are you comfortable with injury to you character going? Does this include being fed on by vampires, willingly or unwillingly? Hasi gets hurt a lot. Mild bruising, etc., are fine, and anything more, just talk to me and I'll most likely be down. It's okay for vampires to try to feed on her, but the datura effect will get to them, too, so it might hurt them in the process.
5.) Is it acceptable for other characters with abilities of shapeshifting or disguise to imitate your character? Does this include ability mimicry? Physical appearance, yes. Powers, no.
part iv.
1.) Can your character's presence or aura be noticed by other characters, and how would it look/feel to them? How would it manifest to a character with no supernatural abilities, if at all? Her basic aura is that of a witch, albeit a weirdly powerful one who may not be entirely human, if you know what to look for.
2.) Can your character be affected by magic spells and curses? Yes.
3.) Can your character be affected by sin and corruption, and be tempted toward expressing their darker urges (of whatever flavor)? Hahaha...yes. She also does this to others.
4. What sort of sins is the character prone toward, and how might they best be tempted, if you are interested in such an event? Lust and pride are the big ones. Sloth, too. Materialism. Wrath is there, much as she hides it. Hasi tends to just give in to her temptations and make them work for her, mind you.
5.) Are you amenable to the character receiving prophetic visions, including as part of a plot? Sure.
part v.
1.) Is canon-puncturing or fourth-walling acceptable? We encourage people to tread extremely lightly with allowing their character to learn they are fictional. N/A but I don't like it, personally, and won't do it to others.
2. Is threadjacking allowed? Under what circumstances? Sure!
3. Is it acceptable for canonmates that are updated further than yours to inform your character of events yours has not yet experienced? N/A
4. Are there triggering or upsetting topics you would like other characters to avoid mentioning to yours for the sake of continued comfort (racist words, homophobia, self-injury, etc.)? I'm mostly okay as long as it's all IC. I'll let you know if something changes. Hasibe can be a triggering character in her own right, given her penchant for really toxic personalities and situations, so I'll be careful with that in return.
5. Are there any additions you would like us to make to this survey? I MADE THIS SURVEY LOL
