La Rustica Trattoria & Pizzeria

I am one of two coordinators for the Food Club (FC) at work - we aim to go out to different restaurant fortnightly and/or to coincide with the FC members' birthdays.

For one of the FC events, we went out to La Rustica. Having a large booking, they were quite accomodating and when we had more people than the booking, they set more places up with a smile. Awesome Service!

The food was also pretty good - it wasn't as pricey as I thought they were. Medium pizzas and pasta dishes were about $20, with glasses of wines of about $6-8. Quite reasonable I thought!

I had the Salsicce Pizza (Tomato base, mozzarella cheese, Italian pork sausage, onion and chilli). I also was lucky enough to sample the Dom's Special Pizza (Tomato base, mozzarella cheese, ham, bacon, hot salami, mushrooms, olives and achovies) and the Risotto Marinella (Rice with a combination of fresh tiger prawns, scallops, squid and perch fillet pieces sautéed with a light white wine, tomato and chilli sauce).

Both pizzas were quite reasonably sized - one medium was certainly enough for me. You could also tell that they used fresh ingredients and they made their own pizza bases.

The risotto however was a little different - when someone say risotto, I imagine sticky (almost gluggy) rice dish. La Rustica's risotto looked like they cooked the rice separately, then stir through the sauce and seafood. The rice was quite separated and wasn't sticky at all! It taste nice though - and what seafood I got, it was fresh!

We had about 28 people in the end, with some arriving later. Our order, however, came swiftly, with the late-comers got theirs pretty soon after. Being a Thursday, the place was pretty busy, even without our booking there.

La Rustica do have quite a name in ACT, and in my opinion, they certainly do live up to it!
