For a challenge at scifiland. Ten things you love about something, something along those lines. It could only be Janis. I could have probably come up with another ten, there are bits that aren't here that I wish were, but there just wasn't room for them. There isn't a Janis scene I don't love. These were the immediate choices, so the top ten.
Sounds weird, but the formatting only works for me in Opera, I don't know why. In every other browswer it's not right.
10. After what she saw - 1x18 "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road"
I could have easily picked half of this list with scenes from this episode. So much quality Janis, and fabulous hair too. Her reaction to all of what happened is why I chose this one. Not evil Janis is a hundred times better than evil Janis, and how she reacted showed that she wasn't all in with the bad eggs. Maybe it's because she had no idea who she was working for, but she realised here, and she didn't like it at all. Of course she knew they weren't the good guys, she's not that stupid. Also, I like watching her make sad faces just as much as happy adorable faces.
9. Message recieved - 1x15 "Queen's Sacrifice"
Simon: Two moles, in case one is caught. Brilliant. And not one person in that office would suspect it’s you. Not one.
Janis: Well that would be the point now, wouldn’t it?
Some people don't like this bit, but I love it. Simon/Janis scenes have always got something special, but this was brilliant. I didn't mind the idea of evil!Janis, but I preferred the idea of dubious!Janis, but I still adored the ridiculous smirk at the end.
8. I'm super gay - 1x10 "A561984"
Janis: I need something a little more basic. I’m actually going to be doing this alone, and the whole penis thing is kind of a problem for me, because I don’t like them.
Bryce: You’re gay?
Janis: I’m super gay.
I wish there was more scenes with Bryce and Janis, but the two that were given were awesome. I kind of went a little picspam crazy with it when it aired, her faces in this were fabulous, and then of course there is "I am super gay."
7. There's me, and my baby, and then there's you. - 1x20 "The Negotiation"
I needed a way out, I thought it would be a new beginning. I’m sorry. You’re my friend, and I should have done better by you, but this baby is the most important thing that has ever happened to me.
I want my BFFs to be happy, and smiley. Her face at the end made me sad, it's easier to know that they make amends in the next episode.
6. I don't know what we're doing anymore - 1x03 "137 Sekunden"
But there have to be some limits Mark, there have to be some people that we won’t deal, or we won’t flip. And I’m sorry, but if we can’t even draw the line at a Nazi, I just don’t even know what we’re doing anymore.
Again with the adorable faces, nose rub, and the way she says everything here. Especially the Nazi line, I loved it.
5. I will make you gayer - 1x14 "Better Angels"
Demetri: Chances are, I’m not going to be around in a couple of months anyway. I think it’d be nice if Willa was.
So I ship Demetri/Janis, I told myself not to; I pretended I didn't, but I do. I know it's completely hopeless, and I can say that it is based 62.7% in their friendship, and not in some foolish deluded hope that something could maybe possibly happen in the future. So this scene, giant happy. Like omgdidthatreallyjusthappenomg happy. On one side, Janis really wants this baby, isn't Demetri lovely for wanting to help her? But he thinks he's going to die. But, they're going to bake bread and make an adorable little loaf of bread.
4. The Yellow Brick Road - 1x18 "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road"
I had this friend who joined the Bureau, I never thought of myself as particularly patriotic. But it sounded cool, I liked the idea of being part of something, actually trying to make the world a safer place. I loved it. I loved every second of it. Quantico made me strong, taught me what mattered, and showed me I’m capable of tackling problems I never thought possible.
This scene just makes me happy. They were so cheerful, and bouncy, and adorable. Their faces. Also, total BFFs.
3. In the hospital with Stan - 1x06 "Scary Monsters and Super Creeps"
When I got shot, the bullet bounced around all over the place. The only thing they said they could do without taking the whole thing out... Olivia did this thing called a B-Lynch, but with all the scarring, they said that it’s going to be almost impossible... Why am I crying? I never even wanted to have a baby.
Her faces in this scene like to toy with me, I hate that she was sad, but she was fabulous right here. And any scenes that she had with Stan Wedeck are brilliant in my book.
2. Kicking butt, but forgetting to take their names - 1x05 "Gimme Some Truth"
I love when girls are awesome, when they're smart, when they're funny, and up to this point Janis was all of them. Then she added ass kicker extraordinaire to her repertoire. Four guys in Washington couldn't take anyone down, but one woman against two bad eggs with a bullet in her stomach managed to take both her attackers down. It was this or the Marcie takedown, but she was more awesome here.
1. It broke my heart - 1x13 "Blowback"
I don’t want my life to just be about being an FBI agent, and if I want that life I have to start living it right now. When I got shot, and I was lying there listening for the ambulance, the only thing I could think about was that baby. The possibility that I wouldn’t get to have her, that I would miss dressing her in pink, that I would never get to brush her hair - broke my heart.
This scene gave me giant heart pangs. Not only because it was the first proper scene between Janis and Demetri in ten episodes, but what she said, and her face. I watched it several times when it aired, and still now it brings a tear to my eye. And now it makes me so mad at ABC for not only taking her away from me, but not letting us see her met her baby.
