call up the company and ask them for the best plan to be put on, and ask that they ammend the bill like you were on that plan.

i did that in eugene, and it worked wonders.

may i suggest using two paper cups connected with a string to replace your phone after you through it into a lake to destroy the evidence?

sounds like a good plan to me, although the price of string and paper cups are mindboggling these days.....
