Nick: Questionaires 1-5....

Questionnaire #1 -- The Basics
1. Your Name

Nicholas Grayson. Everyone calls me Nick though.

2. Your age

It feels as though I have been 19 forever. This test is easy!

3. Describe yourself

Ugh, I'm really bad at this. I find myself to be uninteresting when I take a long time to think about it. I think what I have going for me is my sarcastic humour and rugged good-looks. Okay, I am rugged, but maybe not in the handsome way. I have facial hair. Wait, am I describing my looks or my personality? Shit, let's just end it now and say I'm mysterious.

4. Describe your mate (if applicable)

Sadly, I am not applicable. I do not do well with the opposite sex.

5. Where (and when) do you live?

Here and there and now. [Mysterious!!!]

6. What's your favourite sweet? (It is so a basic!)

I loooove zebra cakes. The shortening is slowly clogging my arteries I'm sure.

Questionnaire #2 -- Favourites
What is your favourite...

Season?

Fall. Autumn...whenever its gray outside.

Food?

I have an unusual fondness for nachos. I can scarf all day on them....and pizza, as cliché as it sounds. Whatever, its cliché for a reason.

Animal?

Wolf says I'm a woman, but I say I like me some cats.

Colour?

Dark yellow, green...blue is also cool I guess.

Time of day?

6:59pm

Weapon?

Why it should be obvious that my razor sharp wit is my most valuable and favourite weapon. That either sounded funny or arrogant. In a perfect world, it would be both.

Questionnaire #3 - Background
Tell us about...

Your place of birth.

I was born in Germany actually. My dad is an architect and my uncle commissioned him for a lot of money to do a house there, so we were there for three years. I remember almost none of it. Except that I'm pretty sure I was a happy baby. I have pictures of me smiling and drooling all over myself.

Your childhood.

Pretty normal. School, soccer, baseball, camping. My family is pretty tightknit. My older sister was pretty nice to me up until her adolescence, then she got bored with me. But by then I had my own little brother and sister to play with. I was in some club that was misogynistic in theory....you know..."No Girls Allowed" kind of thing. I grew up with my best friend Wolf since kindergarden. He started that club when we were 7. I like to think I'm the Hobbes to his Calvin, minus the attacking and quarreling.

Your parents.

My mom has been a homemaker since I can remember. She's totally the whole stereotypical housewife at home, but she's also a pretty strong femenist. She's been involved with a lot of local women's rights activism. She's kind of a citadel figure to the family. She keeps us in line and together.

My dad is an architect, and a pretty popular one to boot. He's designed a lot of buildings in our city, among places out of the country. He's probably one of my heroes. He works hard for his family and he loves what he does and he's so fucking smart it is amazing to listen to him speak sometimes. He's a poet and painter at heart, but never made any money off of it. Mom has his 'works' framed all around the house. I have a piece of his in my room as well, which he made when I turned 16. He's a great guy.

It seems gross to other people, but my parents are still real sweet on each other after almost 25 years of marriage. I think its a nice thing to see a couple so in love after all those years. I guess it also gives me some sense of security and hope....I don't know. I always tend to talk too much about my parents.

Your siblings

Dagny, 23, [who I've called Nyny since I could speak] is the oldest. She's a pretty good sister. We've had our arguments and battles, but most of the time she's pretty good for advice and comfort. She's currently attending NYU, graduating next fall, so she hasn't been home in a few months.

Amon, 16, my little brother. We get along pretty well. He likes to confide in me and he used to follow me around all the time. He looks up to me I think [not to brag, I just think its the truth]. He's always asking me questions about girls and stuff. I don't know why he comes to me when I have no clue how women work. I've told him this, but he thinks I'm being modest or something.

Branwen, 14, and the youngest of us all. She's pretty naive and quiet. She seems like a loner type. She has a select few friends, all a bunch of weird goth kids. She's still trying to find where she fits in best. I went through a lot of that. She's already borrowing my CDs....without asking...so I know we have similar taste in music. I think out of all my siblings, we are most alike. I kind of hope she'll grow up to be a bit like me. All of us are pretty much alike, but we all have our own hidden tastes and such. She seems the most likely to pick up on my own tastes. I don't know.

And if you're wondering why they all have weirder names than I do, Dagny was named after my great-aunt Dagnija, which is a different name ethnically, but my mom didn't want the same exact name for her. I was named after Dad's grandfather, he died shortly before I was born. And Amon and Branwen...well my mom just got heavy into mythology a few years after I was born, and those names are the result. Ha. I'm lucky my name isn't Apollo or Thor or something.

Your (current) home.

As creepy and nerdy as it sounds, I live in the basement of my parents' house. I used to share a room with Amon, but we both got too old for that, so dad built an extra shed in the backyard to store our things in, and made the basement into a nifty room. I have everything I need, even a window! I get my privacy, but I still see my parents regularly, its win-win to me.

Your favourite "hang out".

There used to be this awesome place in uptown called Poppa's, but there was some kind of accident and it burnt down. Since then Wolf and I tend to keep trying new places. There's a restaurant/pool hall type place downtown called Fury's that we both like, though we both agree that Fury's is a dumb name for a place like that to be called. They have AWESOME nachos too.

Questionnaire #4 - Skills
Can you read?

Yeah, damn public schools, making it necessary.

Can you write?

Not as well as I can read!

Can you sing?

Eeeeh. Sometimes. My voice tends to get scratchy easily when I sing, so I rarely do.

Can you play an instrument?

Wolf wanted to start a band a long while ago, and I had taken piano lessons since I was eight years old, so I tried keyboard. The band fell through, but once and a while Wolf and I will just mess around in my room or at his place for our own personal fun. I can also play a cow bell. GOTTA HAVE MORE COW BELL. Christopher Walken is GOD!

What languages do you speak?

I speak English....I used to speak a good bit of German, but not so much anymore. My memory of the language has atrophied over the years.

What weapons can you use?

I'm not much of a fighter. I've gotten into a few fist fights before. Held my own, but didn't necessarily ever win. Also, as I stated earlier. WIT man, wit.

Questionnaire #5 - Secrets
Are you good at keeping secrets about yourself?

Those are the secrets I'm best at keeping.

What is your best kept secret?

Um, about who? And if it is to remain my best kept secret, am I not supposed to disclose it at this point in time?

What is your worst kept secret?

Sometimes, I like to have conversations with small animals. They don't seem to mind, but it apparently weirds out other people. It's okay for people to dress up their pets and talk to them like babies, but I can't have a decent, heart to heart with a rabbit? Screw that.

And the fact that I am a loser is also apparent.

Are you good at keeping secrets about others?

Yeah. Pretty much. Unless it is just..too funny. If the secret would actually harm anyone or their feelings though, you can bet it would not leave me.

What secret about someone else have you kept and wish you hadn't?

When I was in junior high, one of my friends was raped. She swore me to complete secrecy. She got pregnant from it and her dad sent her away, because he was a real hardcore jack-ass Christian, and he didn't believe that she was raped. He said it was her sin and she had to pay for it and blah blah blah, making everything worse, and I haven't heard from her since. I really wish I had told someone. I don't know if it would have made a difference, but the possibility that it COULD have will probably stay with me forever.

What secret about someone else have you not kept and wish you had?

Now, Wolf is my very best friend in the world. He is a good guy for the most part. I think he makes mistakes, but this one time, we were like 17 or something, so it wasn't that long ago. He was cheating on his girlfriend with some new exchange chick. He really loved his girlfriend, and I mean really loved. This is something unexpected from Wolf. He rarely shows emotions so openly, but he loved her. And he felt like such scum for cheating on her, and he did it anyway, a few times. He knew it was wrong and did it anyway. I really want to blame the exchange chick,[I think her name was Bree] but Wolf had his part in it.

I was talking a little too loudly one day with our friend Mike, and it was just the worst luck ever that his girlfriend was walking by and heard mention of Wolf and Bree and man......she went ballistic. She cussed me out for keeping it a secret....and then she went to Wolf's and just totally tore him apart. I think she really loved him too, because aside from being crazy mad, she was really upset, you could tell. I think she had trust issues from past boyfriends...but man, Wolf like, died for a while. He wouldn't even talk to me, and we had never stopped talking ever. Not with all our fights over the years. It was pretty bad. Eventually he got better, and we patched things up and it was the same as before, but sometimes I still think he misses her. He'll say something like "Man, Chels would love this" or something, then stop himself from speaking any further when he's realized what he's said. Its kind of sad, and mostly, I am to blame, even if I was just a accidental messenger type.

Whoa. Long answer. Sorry.
