[Post- this thread, ohboy.]

Castiel is wandering the halls, looking even more glum than usual. His default expression can't be said to be happy, but it's clear this is more than just default-blank. Cas is sad.

Every now and then he pauses and stares into nothing, and puts one hand to his lips, feeling them. He might even occasionally sigh Dean ( Read more... )

[ ACCIDENTAL ACTION! ] sadfreezingbrit February 26 2011, 21:17:31 UTC
[ Philip has already completed his daily library trip (library trip on this side of the mirror meaning "a walk to" and not "getting high in" said room) and is now headed back upstairs with a stack of books.

Today's subject of interest is Overcoming Cultural Differences in a Completely Platonic Relationship with a Partner from the Victorian Ages, as Castiel may soon find out when Philip rounds the corner and accidentally walks straight into him, dropping his substantial collection in the process. ]

Ow! Owdamnit, sorry!

Cas is in one of the introspective sections of the above description, so he is paying no attention at all when someone rounds the corner. That changes when he finds himself 'flat on his ass,' as Dean would say, books scattered around him on the floor. He looks up at the aforementioned someone, who is apologizing.

"No, no, I am at fault. I was...distracted," he says. He pushes himself up and starts gathering books, the words --Partner from the Victorian Ages on one of them catching his eye before he hands it over.

"No. No, really it's my--," Philip attempts to lend the floored stranger a hand, "It's my fault, I was just looking at the books and I didn't-- I'm sorry, I'm really sorry."

He drops another apology or two while joining in on gathering up the chaos. The books and-- Damn it, he should have numbered those things after all!

Philip picks up the scattered mess of papers on the floor. A collection of notes taking on his research; quotes, page references and some personal remarks on the reading material.

One piece of paper only says LEECHES ARE NOT THE ANSWER, five times underlined. Philip hurriedly files it somewhere between the others and looks at Castiel.

"Are you-- Are you okay?"

Castiel has has his tendency to over-apologize pointed out before, but he's not so depressed he doesn't notice this guy taking the cake. Great, now his subconscious is starting to speak in euphemisms.

"It is alright," he reassures, "I am unharmed." If there is a deeper meaning to the question if he's okay, he doesn't notice.

Then, ever to-the-point: "Who are you?" He still hasn't learned the finer points of human acquaintance rituals, i.e. manners.

"I do not have a dog." He looks rather like one though, with the confused tilt of his head.

Oh, right. You're special. I meant you look stupidly sad.

"...Oh.

I-- I suppose I am, yes." He seems almost perplexed to realize it. Actually he's perplexed that it's showing, but that's a nuance one might not pick up. He also doesn't seem to have noticed who Santana is, i.e. the girl from that awkward double-date, and someone he's maybe a little terrified by, or of. "Do you know where the library is?"

[What. What was that thing he just sighed?

...Time for some investigation.]

Castiel, was it? You seem terribly melancholy today.

Castiel takes a moment before remembers Kurt from the awkward ...dinner... of a couple months ago, and from the party the night he began having the wings-problem that Dean insists never be mentioned.

"Yes, and you are... Kurt? I am sorry if my mood offends. I have caused Dean distress, and I greatly wish I could undo it. But I have no power over time, here."

[He's sitting with one leg crossed over the other and his hands folded over his knee, doing his best to look like he cares. ...Well, he cares, just probably not for reasons that would make Castiel feel good about himself.]

Oh, but Dean always seemed very fond of you. How could you have possibly caused him distress? Did something happen?

Is Kurt ready for this? Ohgod. [video] out_of_minutes February 27 2011, 03:40:26 UTC
"He kissed me."

Then fairly obviously wished he hadn't.

"I am not...unwell. Please don't let my mood distress you. I am hoping the cause for it will pass soon." He sounds regretful.

"...No, I don't think so. But thank you for your concern." It's said genuinely, not dismissively.

If Castiel makes it to the library, he'll find Mark (unsurprisingly) browsing among the shelves in search of Wonderland-related materials. He's got a few books already, all in the line of Alternate Realities and You.

After being interrogated by various parties, Cas finally locates the library. It reminds him somewhat of Bobby Singer's house, just as full of books and knowledge - and hopefully what he needs - but tidier.

He spots Mark when he gets there, and heads in his direction. He's relieved to see someone he knows, sort of. He doesn't know how human libraries are organized. The overall air of the place is hushed, so he speaks quietly: "Mark Meltzer?"
