Wow!  Just finished Serpent's Kiss, the third book in Thea Harrison's Elder Race series.  It is suspenseful and fun all the way through. The series starts off with Dragon Bound which is just delightful, really fun and upbeat.  It spins off from there to Storm's Heart, building on characters met in the first book.  A good book, but grimmer than the ( Read more... )

I keep hearing really amazing things about this series, but something stops me from investing. Please tell me the men aren't all OTT alpha assholes?

They are all definitely alpha males. Tiago, the main male character of the second book is the only one that really comes close to asshole-ish.

All of the alpha's personalities fit their nature, though: Dragos is a dragon and leader of the wyr. He was born at the dawn of creation and is the only dragon in existance. He acts like you would expect a dragon to act.

Tiago is a thunderbird, also old as spit and few in number. He is Dragos' warlord.

Rune, the main male character of the third book, is one of four griffins. He is Dragos' First and good friend. The best way to describe Rune is "surfer boy." He'd rather play WoW and listen to Bob Marley. His favorite thing is his Jerry Garcia t-shirt.

If you have a kindle or the kindle app on your computer, I can try and share Dragon Bound with you. I've never tried to do that before, but I can probably figure it out.
