It is ugly, isn't it? I sorta think that's the point though. I don't think it's meant to be pretty. I don't know why it can't be a novel, Kriss, probably because it's fucking with the whole idea of the comic book genre and that wouldn't be as cool if it weren't a comic book itself? idk.

Yea it probably is meant to be ugly but this makes me think about how wonderful manga is.. if you in the mood for a good manga by the way read eternal sabbath... IT WAS SUPER GOOD.

I really like that you've chosen a graphic novel and a play for your first two entries; it makes the whole thing fresh and exciting before it's even begun.

I think it's really interesting how we've both listed three good points and three bad ones off the bat! In different formats, yes, but the principle is the same. I think that's definitely a plus as far as formatting goes. And I was considering putting a "currently reading" type note at the bottom of my log but decided not to.

I am now curious to read both of these, I've heard good things about Watchmen and you sell Angels in America very well while acknowledging its faults. It's good when people impress their like of something upon you but are still conscious of flaws and the such.

I didn't consciously choose not to read novels. I think I probably read more things that aren't novels than are. Weird but true.

It is pretty cool. I just wanted a sort of tl;dr version, you know? I have to say that I like how our formats were similar but not identical.

Watchmen is supposed to be the greatest graphic novel of all time and I'd say it's definitely worth a shot. I think the difference between "it's the best thing ever" and "it's my favourite thing ever" is very important, y'know? (Or at least I'm very morally and intellectually troubled by the problem of subjectivity. Something like that anyway.)

That's quite cool. :) my reading is very novel-centric although I occasionally read manga. Whenever I do though I feel guilty, as if it's not "real" reading when actually a lot of the time it can be harder to read than an actual book, because it's so easy to not take things in. I do like Gaiman's Sandman series, although that's more of an aesthetic thing than a literary thing, and Neil isn't the illustrator, haha.

TL;DR versions are very handy, and they're good for summarising as well. Loads of gaming websites use them on their reviews, which is what inspired me to do mine haha. *geek*
