May led Cloe, Patsy, and Gel out of the Mall through the car park entrance/exit. She was glad they had all agreed to come. "Good Idea. Ved would have a heart attack if he knew I left. He didn't want me to go out, but I want to help." Cloe said. She shivered and thought about how much she wished she had brought a scarf or a pair of gloves. "So how much farther, May?"

"It's quite a walk, Cloe." May replied as they slipped down several side alleys, pausing when they saw someone cross their path ahead of them. She paused when she heard Patsy's words. "Patsy." she turned. "If you saw one of them about to hurt Salene, or Baby B, would you hesitate to atleast knock them out? I know I wouldn't. No, they aren't going to let them go. We'll have to do some fighting. But I've got that covered." Or atleast I hope I have it covered. she thought. She glanced forward again and started off. Cloe raised her eyebrows. "You've got that covered??? Let me guess, we're using baseball bats?" Cloe looked at her feet. 'ow' she thought.

Cloe sat on the cold ground and hugged her knees to her chest. 'Wonder what Ved is doing?' she thought. 'No, I can't think about him' She kicked her self mentally for worrying about him. He should worrying about her!

"So May, whats our plan of attack, and how much farther? And since there's only four of us, Do we attack all at once?"

Patsy sat and listened to May. Look-outs? Guards? Patsy was trying to be optimistic but it wasn't really working too well.

"May, what if they catch us? What if they lock us up just like Salene and Bray - who's going to come save us if that happens?"

"I've no intention of being captured, Patsy." May's eyes narrowed. "Not by the Chosen. We've been through that." She unzipped her jacket and set the bag on the ground before her. "And since we'll have to defend ourselves from now on I think you should have these." She pulled out three T-Guns from the bag, her eyes twinkling dangerously, her lips curling up in a smile. "I think these should give us the edge we need."

Cloe looked at the T-guns. "Ved taught me how to use one of these." She said with a proud tone of voice. "Thanks May." Cloe was still skeptical about the whole plan. But, she was in the middle of the woods, no turning back now.

May pulled her own T-Gun out of her jacket pocket and strapped it on her wrist. "They're set for stun if that's any comfort." She commented. "And they're easy to use. You aim and fire and no-one gets within ten feet of you. Better than trying to fight hand to hand." She paused to listen. "Do any of you hear that?" She stood up, sure she could hear shouting.
That doesn't sound good. She double checked the setting on her T-Gun and motioned for the others to follow her. As they started off two Chosen guards seemed to materialize out of the woods. May didn't hesitate to fire.

Cloe watched the guards fall to the ground. "I guess that means we're close." Cloe remained silent thereafter. She wanted to find the Mallrats.

Patsy jumped up and stared in a shocked disbelief as she watched May fire and knock down two guards. She had never seen a weapon anything like that in her entire life!

Patsy stood still and looked around at May, Cloe, and Gel. She coudn't find the words to describe the strange combination of unfailing determination and heart-pouding fear.

May moved ahead slowly, eyes darting to every motion of a leaf. If the girls with her hadn't accepted the seriousness of the situation before, they surely knew it now. The shouting grew louder and occasionally she thought she recognized Salene's voice, but she couldn't be sure.
