The picture on the outside of my phone is an imperious-looking seagull standing on a pier overlooking the Bay Bridge. On my prior visits to San Francisco, I came to rely on the pier and its view of the Bay as a place to breathe, think, and draw inspiration. I was thinking of visiting it again tonight
