I was in the Bahamas last week doing some diving, and took an underwater class in sharks -
Seems that the sharks were interested, too!

Actually, they do - but only in self-defense. You have to be very careful not to startle them. There were about 10 in all, the biggest about 12 feet.

Sharks are attracted to shiny things. I take out my diamond when I dive.

Good idea - I also slather myself all over with waterproof sunscreen, it makes you smell funny to the sharks.

Being less than delicious can be a good thing sometimes -

Wow, the odd random post from you. I am friending you (as the kids say).

I've always dreamed of swimming with sharks. That looks like a friggin dangerous shark. What kind? I'm going to guess ... grey reef shark. (It looks like a tiger shark but they are so rare...)

Caribbean reef sharks. Popular in films because they look scary but really aren't dangerous. Greys mostly live in the Pacific, but they're similar.

They're protected in the Bahamas largely because of the tourist dollars shark dives like this generate, so you're actually helping the sharks by visiting them.
