Roy Mustang sighed as he looked around the office. There was someone missing, but it took him a moment to realize who was gone. Havoc, Breda, Falman, and Fuery were all here, but Hawkeye was gone. He wondered what had happened to his right-hand woman and body guard; usually she was here before any of them in the morning.
“Where’s Lt. Hawkeye?” He asked, looking out at the others. He should know where she was. Hawkeye was usually here bothering him about getting his paperwork done. He wondered where she had gone.
“There was a sharpshooting contest in Central. She was asked to participate. She should be back by the end of the week.” Lt. Havoc responded, looking up at Roy. “You forgot, didn’t you, Chief?”
Roy managed to pull a straight face as he looked at Havoc again. “I did not.” He replied, before quickly looking down at his paperwork and actually starting on it. He had totally forgotten about the contest that Hawkeye had been invited to participate in.
It was an odd week without Hawkeye around, things were rather quiet and Roy was surprised that he actually got his paperwork done without much bother from any of the others. She had arrived back at the office early one morning and didn’t seem to think anything was wrong when she looked up at the others with a small smile as they entered.
“Good morning, Sir.” She said, blinking as Roy just stood there for a moment, slightly shocked.
“Good morning, Lt. Hawkeye, it’s good to see you back.” Roy responded as he sat down at his desk, finding a stack of paperwork to be done.
“Lt. Hawkeye, good seeing you back.” Havoc said with a grin as he sat down across from her. “How was the contest?”
“I got first place, as well as a lot of offers for transfers to different places where my skills could be put into better use,” She replied. “I turned them all down,” She added a moment later looking at Roy as he quickly busied himself with his paperwork.
The day went by without much else going on. Riza told everyone how the contest went and who she was up against as they finished up their paperwork.
When the day was done and everyone else had left, Roy looked at Riza with a faint smirk. “It’s a good thing you didn’t accept the offers for a transfer. You’re mine and mine alone.”
Riza blinked, looking at Roy as he put on his coat. “See you in the morning, Lt. Hawkeye.” He said with the same smirk as he left. Riza just watched, stunned for a moment before she gathered her things and then headed home herself.
