Given that I haven't touched my Playstation2 since I got this laptop, I would very much like to have the ability to play my PS1 games on here. I'd want to play PS2 as well, but emulation for PS2 is so iffy, it's not even worth bothering with

My PS2 doesn't play PS1 games anymore. Or CD's. Or DVD's. Really, all it can do anymore is play PS2 games. If I had the slim one, it would probably work, but mine is a 6 year old bulky version.
Also, the image quality of my TV is vastly inferior to my laptop's screen. I -could- just hook up my PSone whenever I want to play games for it, but I'd have to dig it out and hook it up each time, then unplug it and put it away when I'm done. There's no room here to just leave it out and hooked up. If it stood up like my PS2, it wouldn't be a problem. >.<

You might have just ended up with a defective model(it IS Sony, after all). Everyone else I know who bothered with the PS2 had problems with the bulkier model that were largely non-existent with the slim model. I'd certainly love to replace my old PS2 with one that can actually do all the things it's supposed to. >.<
