[Alphonse hadn't even noticed the cold yet, he was too deeply asleep. He was sort of in love with sleeping again since he had become able to do it, and would happily snooze the morning away.

He only wakes up at the smell of cooking from... the fireplace in the lounge?! Rubbing his eyes as he meandered downstairs.]

Um... why is it so cold?

I'll ask Brother to make a little generator later.

[Because Al doesn't have his alchemy yet, but he knows Ed will be able to convert some of the kitchen cabinets into a heater that ran off spoons or something.]

You can get it in the mail, right?

Mm, that's what Brother said.

[He doesn't want to think about that. He never wants his mom to see what had become of him, just a suit of armour with nothing inside.]

[she goes to the kitchen table, and moves aside the mail... before pulling out an envelope with her name on it.

opening it up, she produces the family portrait.]

Look what I got from home? Oh, dear. His face... [haha.]

You were so tiny, Al! And look at Ed...

[Ah.

Al is left staring in shock for a few moments, his hand raising to gently touch his own face in the picture in awe. He barely remembers these days of happiness, days before they had lost both parents.]

...Granny still has this pinned up.

Do you think it's too much? He must miss his family, too...

...Maybe we could put it up somewhere else, where he might not see it so much.
