Busy: My show is up, and will be open to the public tomorrow morning.

Book: Winter's Bone by Daniel Woodrell. Definitely one of the best books I've read in the last few years.

Photos of Barack Obama, taken in Richmond, 17 February. The rest are here.

Hey, cool! I haven't decided which canidate I'm throwing my support behind yet, but that doesn't change the fact that Barack is just plain awesome.

He's a pretty amazing speaker. I'm supporting him, because I feel that - barring any major screw ups or skeletons in closets in the next couple of years - he's by far the most electable of the Dems. Which is something that Democrats rarely nominate.

Cool photos.

Re: winter's Bone. I was speaking at a writers' event last summer, and one of my fellow contributors was an excellent British crime writer called John Harvey (a thoroughly nice chap). Anyway, we each had to read aloud a piece from a book we love, and he read from Winter's Bone. I remember how brilliant the prose was in just the short excerpt he read. I must seek it out and read it.

I bet you would like it. The prose is beautiful.

And in some ways it has things in common with The Murder Ballad, in that they both present a world that's totally foreign, ugly, and beautiful - all at the same time.

And: Do you happen to know anything about any of his other books? I've been meaning to look at the library...
