I've been paying particular attention to politics as well as the history of politics and have fallen under the ecclisiatical conclusion that there is nothing new under the sun...I'm seeing it as a serum created by men who have a need to validate their need and importance, but with a deadly side effect that kills the patient it's trying to cure.

ooohh, ouch, I read that flare up on the "religious visitors" topic. I felt your pain.

History has a lot to teach us... unfortunately every twenty years or so a new generation has to learn it, and they often, with the foolishness and fervor of youth, don't think it's relevant. Whew, is that stupid!
Soooo... infusing the next generation with a taste for history and the humility to learn from its lessons is a priority to me. I salute your enthusiasm for the subject, because "there is nothing new under the sun" was said by Solomon in ecclesiates close to 3,000 or more years ago... and it's still true today. I just wonder if we as a species can handle the advances of technology, something our forefathers had more time to adapt to.
