Hahah, yeah, someone apparently made this up and put it around subways. This is the exact format of NYC subway notices. It is, however, totally fucking true. I'd be willing to wager it's recent; we've just had another fare hike.

fares just went up in san fran too. one day when I was there it cost us $5.35 and the next day going to the same place it cost almost $9. I can't wait to move to New York :D

BLUGH! Well, all the fares for MetroNorth and LIRR went up too, in the same sort of fashion, its like a few bucks more to get out to the middle of long island than it was before.
