Screw has a song about this place. I don't listen to Screw much, so I can't remember exactly what it's called, but it's a very pretty (and maybe a little...haunting?) song. Do you know it?
Oh, yes. Actually, there are two. One is an instrumental called sea of trees, and the other, if I'm not mistaken, is called 樹海二咲ク愛 That or similar. They're both quite lovely I think. Had to listen to them yesterday after I saw those videos, heh.
This is so very very sad. Never would want to go there.
Recently I read about a new way of burial - there are certain forests in Germany where you can bury your beloved ones under a tree. There won't be a grave or stone or something like this, only this tree. You can choose the while you're still alive, visit it, and when you've died, your ashes in an urn just will be buried beneath your tree. This sounds wonderful to me. Plain nature. You and your tree. Sounds solacing and calm and peaceful.
This would be a place where I would like to go to ...
I'd love to know what that place feels like. And, I've read about that, but I think it was not Germany but some other country. There it was that before you die, you pick out a tree, and after death, either seeds, or a young tree will be planted on top of the ashes. It's a lovely idea I think. (also reminds a little of Cinderella and the Hazel tree)
Btw - would you mind trying to get a Skype connection to Norge? Meanwhile I'm seriously worried. No mail, no call from Graddad. Tried to call him on his mobile, it's ringing, but nobody answers. It's strange that it's ringing at all, you know. Just sent a SMS, too.

And this guy in the yellow tent ...
Actually, I've read in our local newspaper about this forests, so it is in Germany. For example, this one is in Bavaria: http://www.lwf.bayern.de/veroeffentlichungen/lwf-aktuell/61/LWFaktuell_61-22.pdf
