How much personal freedom would you be willing to give up in order to ensure security?

No matter what they do I'm never gonna feel secure...there is always a chance something crazy can happen. Because that chance, I'd rather keep my freedoms and risk it. Nothing can really ensure security, in my opinion. I'm also slightly crazy...and by slightly I mean a lot.

in short, none.

Using the same mentality, we're unable to stop ourselves from getting sick, there there is no use in doing things in order to prevent ourselves from getting sick. Vitamin C, anitbacterial soap, flu shots, vaccinations, all pointless because we're unable to stop all sicknesses from occuring. But like anti-bacterial soap and other disease deterrents, there are ways to prevent some bad stuff from happening, but it will cost us some personal freedoms.

You know the Ben Franklin quote on this? I agree with him on the subject. I don't feel safer now than I did before. To be honest, even right after September 11th, I did not feel unsafe.

None. I would much rather take responsibility for protecting myself.

Personal responsibility can only provide protection to your small realm of influence. What about the larger threats out there that are outside your sphere?

If they don't threaten me, I don't much care about them.
