Kepler, Newton, and Bohr, oh my

I have a midterm this evening, so I've been busy studying, for the past couple of days. I've looked at this information so much, that it's almost suffocating to look and/or think about. (I guess that's a good thing, though ( Read more... )

I think I'm ready (or as ready as I'll ever be).

Kepler, Newton and Bohr - MY FAVOURTIES! I'm not sure what level you're sitting, but yay! for classical and not-so-classical physics. Did you know that when Newton and Leibowitz independently came up with calculus as a method of sorting out intractable problems, it was a huge controversy and blows were nearly exchanged? Ah, the idea of maths and science as completely revolutionary world views...

Oh, and good luck with your exams. I'm excited about them by proxy for you.

It's funny for me to imagine Newton almost fighting!

Thanks for the encouragement. :)

The exam ended up being a b@tch, but I did my best. My skills certainly aren't in science, that's for sure.

At least I know my calling in life isn't to discover a new universal law. :)

Leibowitz - Leibniz anonymous September 26 2007, 12:37:23 UTC
I happened upon this blog because my "google alert" is set to let me know when anybody mentions Kepler. I just wanted to make the correction - it was Gottfried Willhelm *Leibniz* that got into the fight with Newton. Actually, Newton's friends started the fight. If any of you are interested, please read my paper which describes how Newton was created out of mud in order to stamp Leibniz in particular, and science in gemeral, out of Europe. http://www.wlym.com/~animations/ceres/Interim/interim_peter.html. Have fun, and keep fighting for truth!
