How many of you still celebrate those little holidays from back home?

[PRIVATE TO CASTIEL]

I sent someone your way. I don't know that she made it, but just in case you end up with an orphan at your door, it's best to let her in.

the devil may care

We both know that you do not care.

No, I don't. [Not as much as it seems he does, anyway. He does have his eccentricities and this is one of them.]

Where are you?

You're asking.

[Instead of just showing up, how unlike you.]

Call it fair warning.

I just stay for the gifts and dinner.

[ He doesn't believe in God and yet he celebrates Christmas. I don't even. ]

That puts you squarely in the majority.

Does it make you feel as if you're still connected? Still keeping something alive?

A holiday is usually born from some myth or superstition. I'm not keeping anything alive by doing what I do. And I don't connect myself with any deity.

-=Except his connections with people, but Ed assumes he's talking about the holiday and whatever gods usually surround it. He's not sentimental. Never. Nope. Nada=-

It doesn't matter where it's born, Ed, you should know that. What matters is what you associate it with. I just find it hard to believe that you, of all people, don't have certain days or events or objects that you associate with your mother.

I know she associated things with you.

Why shouldn't we? I'm all for anything that can remind me of home.

I would expect more people would feel the way you do. Those who haven't given up, at least.

Is it your experience that most people here don't? I can understand why some wouldn't see the point but personally speaking, I can't afford to think like that.

It'd be rather pointless to celebrate the holidays of a place that no longer exists.

You don't buy into the idea that it 'lives on' in you.

I was never a good representative of my people, so no, not quite.

You're 50% of the population; that's a big representation.
