A little time leads to experimentation

So I had some time to play with this render - I'm actually all set until the end of the month. With a little time, I played with a bunch of new features in both Poser and Photoshop I'd never used before. I'm still trying to decide if I like the lighting style better, but overall, the postwork came out well.

Okay, so... dumb question... what's a render? (Since that's pretty much all you talk about here, I figured I better ask!)

Also, random thought, I LOVE the picture (render?) of The Verdant Blades, Verdant Blades/Verdant Throne, Initiation, and Sable Couch. NICE! :D

A render is the process of taking the 3d models that make up the image and turning them into a 2d image. Mathematical calculations are done by the computer to figure out the fall of the lights and the shadows. In this particular render, the 3d objects are:
-the wall
-the floor
-the screen
-the couch
-Sable
-Sable's hair
-the pants and wrist things (separate models)
-the coffee table
-seven lights, positioned at different angles, intensities and colours.

I take the 3d source file and run it through the render engine, which properly applies textures, shadows (based on the light positions) and shader effects (which give Sable's skin it's apparent bumps and imperfections - as well as her freckles). It's all done through some math magic I don't pretend to understand.
