Lisa and I went out on the Lake 22 trail today, which climbs up (way up) through some old-growth forest, to this beautiful snow-fed lake in a valley. I checked--the trail is 2.7 miles, and climbs 1500 feet. It's a good thing the view is so great at the top because halfway up the trail, I thought I was going to die ( Read more... )

Didn't you say you were going to Wallace Falls?

That sounds like my first hike... I was so tired and Jon was having no trouble at all :)

At least you made it to the end!

We WERE going to go to Wallace Falls, but Lisa had the trails confused. She was thinking Lake Twenty-Two, so that's where we went :)

There was no way I was going to let a bunch of little old ladies out-hike me.

Wallace Falls is almost the same - the switchbacks are INSANE. It's 5.5 roundtrip and gains 1200 feet...so Lake 22 sounds a little tougher even. Way to go!

Lisa said she thought Wallace Falls was harder, but she was with her sister, who walks even faster than Lisa. I'm still interested in trying that one out. I've been reading reviews on the different trails in the area, and hoping to plan several hikes this summer :D

I note to Lisa that it's like one of those ads for osteoporosis medication.

So funny! Despite the soreness it sounds like it was a great day (and I saw your photos on FB too so I'm convinced the scenery was worth it!) ;)

It was so much fun! I can't wait to go again. Only now, I wish I could sleep.
