Bookman's First Communion with the Dead [tag to Maria, OPEN]

Oct 02, 2008 16:23

There were actually quite a few common rooms in the Order's Headquarters, but only one with a piano. Lavi knew this because Allen played piano, and when he played, it was always in this room.

Or was it in a different room? Some other familiar place... A very familiar place. Lavi remembered it vividly. That other building felt real. It was hard to ( Read more... )

Fingers fluttered over the keys for a few more moments before hazel eyes finally glanced back toward Lavi with amusement, the woman's hands never pausing or faltering in their dance.

It was entirely possible she was showing off a little.

Shrugging some dark hair off one shoulder, Maria leveled a coy smile in the young man's direction, motioning him further inside with a nod of her head. He wasn't too bad to look at, this bored Bookman. Even if the other guy failed to show up, this promised to be an interesting picnic.

"Sure enough. Don't think I've ever seen your face before. Now how the hell'd I manage that?" she wondered, shaking her head a little ruefully. The song continued on just the same as ever, as though her fingers were playing entirely of their own accord.

"Anyway... good morning," she greeted him at last, ruby lips quirking.

"Morning." Lavi raised an eyebrow as he stepped inside, boots clicking a counter-rhythm to the melody. This woman, Maria. She didn't look like any exorcist he'd met. General Cloud had always been a beauty, but even she had her battle scars. This woman, though, was perfect. Moreover, she was graceful, delicate-looking: like a Baroque sculpture. Could she really fight? And why hadn't he heard of her before? It was suspicious, to say the least. But Lavi was all too happy to ignore the disparities for now.

"Maria, right?" he greeted, stepping around the piano so she wouldn't have to turn. He leaned over the piano, grinning. "You really know what you're doing."

The common room has a balcony now. Because I say so. i_like_balls October 3 2008, 17:07:29 UTC
"INCOMING!" came the dire warning a split second before someone vaulted himself off the balcony from the story above and tumbled into the piano room through the thankfully open balcony doors. (Daisya had certainly looked before he jumped, but that said nothing about whether or not he'd been able to tell if the doors were open with those dratted curtains in the way. As it was, he had no idea and decided to err on the side of adventure.)

"Aw, man, I knew I was gonna be late. Stupid freaking Kanda and his whiny ass," Daisya grumbled in good spirits as he picked himself up off the floor and went about dusting himself off, though it was mostly out of habit more than actual need. Much like General Theodore, Daisya was in a constant state of slightly-filthy and moderate disarray. "But! Nice to see you again, Bookman Junior! You're looking... tall!" Daisya observed before his gaze lighted on their pianist. Not for the first time in his life, Daisya lamented that he held no lasting interest in women. All the same he smiled. "And you must be ( ... )

"Oh, I've been on a few missions here and there, but I've been around... Daisya, was it?" There was a brief prickle from the same lingering sense of not-quite-rightness that had been niggling at Maria all morning, but it quickly subsided again. She must've just... gotten up on the wrong side of her bed this morning, or... something. There wasn't anything the matter here. There couldn't be.

Right?

"Charmed though, really," she murmured, ruby lips curling as she inclined her head toward the hooded Exorcist. The guy seemed to have an awful lot of energy.

"But this is a pretty crazy concidence, don't you boys think? Running into two Exorcists I've never met on the same day."

She was just picking out the last notes of the song, hands still moving practically on their own, as she turned a playful gaze back to Lavi again.

"And thanks, hon. I am a professional, y'know." She gave him a small teasing smirk. If it seemed like she was flirting with the pair of them, well, that would be because she was. There weren't many boys in ( ... )
