Why does my one month old laptop suddenly break down about 20 days before I leave on vacation and will need it? as that was the reason that I bought it... I swear if it isn't fixed by the time I leave the newspapers will have a story to write about a murderous killing spree over a laptop.

no idea. Left it on during the night as usual, woke up, black screen as usual (power saving and all that jazz, only shuts down screen though and not the rest of the comp) so I press a key to get the screen to show, nothing happens, try again, still nothing. turn it off and want to reboot... doesn't do shit, it gets power but doesn't continue to boot. Like when you take a bad memory stick and try to boot and just doesn't do anything or like when your processor is fried, or like when your motherboard is done for. so I tried replacing the ram, had two sticks in it so tried each seperate but no luck. So figured it had to be either processor or motherboard that went fubar somehow. So turned it in and am hoping to god that it will be solved before October

So, the power light comes on, but it doesn't post anything to the LCD? Have you tried connecting an outside monitor?

Nah power comes to it for a fraction of a second, then it dies. Like it tries to boot, but then just drops dead without power again.
