Summary: Thieves are easily distracted by the sparkly. Soldiers, not so much.
Thieves are not supposed to trip over their own feet, not even in the dark, which is why she’s rather surprised when he does. Locke trips because, for some foolish reason, he keeps looking up. Not back, towards South Figaro, towards the enemy, like she would expect, but up.
Celes looks, but doesn’t see anything out of the ordinary. The next time it happens, she reaches forth to catch him from falling flat on his face, and finally asks, “What do you keep looking at?”
“The stars,” he answers easily, shrugging out of her grasp. “Falling stars.”
She looks up.
