But seriously though I missed the part where this happened? Or is this Lexa-canon? (Which is totally cool I'm just wondering how I missed this XD XD D)

Pre-internet, I somehow thought the twins were orphans; but when I looked into it, I couldn't find any backstory them, other than that they are apprenticing in Mysidia. So unless it's in DS or the After, or in one of the obscure DigiCube logbooks that Squaresoft liked to put out, I don't think it contradicts anything. Free-Theory Zone! \o/

That is an utterly awesome and amazing idea! I love it!
... and am probably going to spend the next week pondering implications thereof and so forth.

It completely blindsided me, but for some reason it makes so much sense. \o/

Would you mind terribly if I borrowed this idea? I'd definitely credit you as the originator of the idea, but it's sparked a few ideas for me that I'd like to poke about with; no guarantee they'll go anywhere (much of my writing sputters and dies before it gets past a few pages' worth of material), but in case I do write something share-able... would you mind?
