OMG YULETIDE! \o/
good goddess, i never know what to write in these things
Ahem. Hi! *waves*
So, for the most part, I'm phenomenally easy to please. As a mostly-tiny-fandom dweller, I am content with what I can find, and that people would write to my small-fandom requests and specific characters I like is still a bit baffling to me. In the good way!
I do have my quirks, if you find them helpful:
I like plot, I like world building, I like character pieces, and I like slice of life stuff; I like fluff, angst, bittersweet, darkfic, happy endings, epic struggles that eventually end in bittersweet happy endings, and all the shades in between; I like genfic, I like het, and I like femslash; I like seeing brand new scenarios, or introspection on something that's happened in canon; I like strong female characters as well as strong female characters; I like character interaction, characters being very good friends (even, or especially, males and females!) and I like established romantic relationships (in the background or foreground), but I also enjoy good UST or starting relationships (platonic and romantic), and even well-written rivalries.
I don't like character bashing. By and large, I don't read smut unless it's part of the plot (I vastly prefer fades to black).
For Ultima and Mass Effect ("Create Your Own Protagonist!" games), I add the following: I like well-developed, well-rounded [Player Character] characters. I love character building myself, and I greatly enjoy seeing what other people make of theirs. Names! Personalities! Fitting human strengths and weaknesses! Unknown variables in dealing with the established cast! I do prefer them to be female, but that ties in with "strong & female characters" notation above.
That said, I don't mind them being vague and sidelined for other characters to shine - I just don't need a blank slate to project on to, nor do I think all Player-Created Protagonists are 'Sues without fail.
Right, so, specifics:
if the requests seemed a bit on the thin and uneddited side, it's because I was very busy and ran out of time on signups; however, my notion is "anything goes!"
Ultima - Shamino
R: I'd like to see some good old Ultima IV-V-VI era Shamino fic. Either something from the games or him on his own merry adventure, with or without the other Companions. (Avatar Optional: I have the preference for a Female Avatar if one appears, but other than that, go wild.) Alternately, drop him on Earth and see how he fares in a world of 80s tech instead of a world of sorcery.
Ultima is one of my oldest fandoms. I've been fangirling it since before I knew what fangirling was. A few years back, I got some rockin' Dupre fic, so I figured I might as well try again for some awesome Shamino fic to compliment it. :)
I only suggested U4-6 fic because almost everyone writes U7->Onward, and I thought it might be fun to mix it up a bit, but I enjoy the Guardian Saga as well. I also enjoyed the Worlds of Ultima games, so if you wanted to explore that somehow, it might be interesting.
Seiken Densetsu 3 - Hawkeye, Riesz
R: I want to suggest a heist of some kind... like, they have to go on one for Great Justice; or Hawkeye is trying to steal the Wind for [plot reasons], while Riesz is trying to stop him; or they have to stop a heist. However, I'll take anything with the two of them on any level of interaction, so if something else grabs you, have at it. (One specific request: no Hawkeye/Jessica - I haven't been able to look at them the same since I played HoM and learned she was his biological aunt.)
I love matriarchal societies and female warriors. I love thieves and rogues. Obvious character draws are obvious. :)
For the record, I also like Angela, Kevin, and Charlotte. I like Eagle and I like Jessica. I used to be dead neutral on Jessica/Hawkeye, until the aforementioned "she's his mother's sister" thing came to the fore, at which point incest squick kicked in. I like Isabella and her cohorts. Come to think of it, I don't think there's anyone I dislike in this entire game, I just happen to like some more than others.
Heist was the first thing I thought of, on account of the whole "thief" thing. But feel free to take it in any direction that suits your fancy.
Beyond Good & Evil - Jade, Double H
R: A relaxing moment, either as a brief respite during the game or when all is calm after. Or, if the inspiration strikes, follow where it takes you. I'd just like to see more BG&E fic, particularly with these two.
I played BG&E only recently, so I haven't really gotten into the fandom much beyond light reading - of which there doesn't seem to be very much. But I loved the game, and I loved Jade. Double H took a while to grow on me, however, by the time that certain "Don't break up the team!" moment came along, he had me grinning like a moron. XD
I wasn't sure which I wanted, nor could I think of any specific scenario, so I figured that I may as well tag both and let you sort it out. Heh.
Mass Effect - Kaidan Alenko, Commander Shepard
Kaidan and FemShep ME1 era hijinks, be they platonic or romantic. For extra squee, include Ashley in there somehow.
I didn't think ME was eligible this year, or I might have nominated more characters. Suffice it to say, I tossed it on the pile as an "easy" fandom for matching purposes, since it's not nearly as small as the rest of the fandoms I might request. I specifically requested ME1 fic, for I did not enjoy ME2. I'm sorry for being a horrible person in that respect. :P
My favorite characters are Kaidan and Ashley, although (as mentioned above) I also enjoy seeing fleshed out Shepards. Really, all I need here is good old Space Marine goodness, kicking ass or bonding during downtime, or whatever you can come up with.
