Pings list!

Sometimes I like memes, what.

  • Unusual stuff: Anything I haven't seen done before I'll at least look at enough to see if it further pings me.
  • Nakama: Sometimes hovering around the edge of codependency, and sometimes just choosing to be together because they can. I like strong relationships where the addition of sex wouldn't much change it.
  • Adult characters: I like characters that have an already established personality, a history, and that already know who they are. If it's a coming of age story, it generally needs to be pretty unusual and/or well-done to get my attention
  • Complexity: I love three or more sides, I love politics, I love Machiavellian plotting, I love world-building that fundamentally subtly influences how people think, I love cultural influences, I love the kind of vast details and complexity that makes it feel like they're striving for the real world. Sometimes shades into pure chaos.
  • Characters with weird headspaces: Especially characters who aren't quite what they first appear to be, but I like characters that are well-developed, complex, and just kind of weird in the head.
  • Dichotomies: I'm...really not sure how to say this. I like things that manage to do more than one thing at the same time.
  • Stuff that's neither entirely happy or entirely unhappy, though I tend to dislike unhappy endings
  • Definitions of humanity: Especially when the characters didn't start out as remotely human, especially if their minds still work in a largely inhuman fashion. Cyborgs and other people who started out as human tend to be not as interesting because their minds are still usually fundamentally human.
  • People who keep going when things suck and accomplish things without being shounen heroes. It's more interesting when they're not always blindly determined, but keep going anyways
  • Stuff so bad it makes me laugh
  • Things where there might be romantic implications, but they never bother resolving it onscreen, because it's just not important. Or where they do, but it's not who they originally started out with. Generally, anything that doesn't blindly support OTPs.
  • Family relationships that have a definite affect that isn't just "Oh their mom/dad/both died and they're an only child! SO SAD plz ignore how much more convenient this is for me to write."
