random travel observation

i'm on a regional jet back from boston to RDU - a CRJ-50, 2x2 rows. got lucky on seat selection and snagged an exit row window...

and the guy in the aisle seat next to me is somewhere between 350 and 400 lbs. his hips fit between the armrests, but his gut rides on top of, and somewhat down the other side of, them. (not the first time i've been ( Read more... )

When I was on the road all the time I loved the CRJs. They load fast, they don't need a pushback (thrust reversers) and prior to Sept 11 they let you take your bag to the plane and hand it to them at the ramp (Maybe they still do). That meant that you could bring a regular suitcase as "carry on" which meant you could bypass the checkin counter and go right to the gate ( ... )

wow - i can't imagine the level of self-restraint required not to kill the drunk. :-/ they definitely should have put him in the last row! (altho that still wouldn't have helped the poor shmuck whose seat he was using as an extrication crutch...)

i don't mind the CRJs unless the flight attendant gets snippy about my laptop bag. yes, really, it does fit under the seat - that's why i selected a seat on the 2x side. no, really, i don't want to gate-check it...

I had a co-worker who on his flight back from a business trip, the man sitting next to him died. On the toilet.
