Thing a week

Feb 19, 2008 21:11

This is the second play in a row that requires some knowledge of a specific subject to be meaningful. This time, rather than Hamlet, it's World of Warcraft.

I'm still behind. But I'm still writing. Things work out.

Shanky - (stealths in) Okay. Pat's going the other way.

Lotharion - (warrior) Alright.

Dadfael - (priest) We should have a lot of time before the next one comes.

Gourmet - (warlock) Yeah, but the further we can get the better.

Dadfael - True. We need to quit at 9:30, though, whether or not we're done.

Gourmet - Dad I don't have class until 10 tomorrow.

Dadfael - I know, but I have work. Your dad's old and tired.

Gourmet - No you're not.

Lotharion - Are we ready to pull?

Shanky - Yeah.

Gourmet - Go ahead.

(Two mobs are standing away from the group. Lotharion runs up to them and begins attacking. Shanky comes around behind them and starts stabbing. Gourmet starts dotting and Dadfael heals.)

Dadfael - I know you might not think so, but the truth is that I can't stay up as late as I once could. Renew doesn't work on me.

Shanky - Shit. Aggro.

Lotharion - Can't you feint, sweetie? Taunt!

Gourmet - You're just out of practice.

Dadfael - People do change. (Mobs go down)

Lotharion - Leather shoulders.

Shanky - Shammy gear. Pass.

Dadfael - I'll DE. You gotta be a little bit careful. You can burn yourself out if you do too much, even when you're young.

Gourmet - I know, dad. I'm being careful.

Dadfael - 'Cause it's really easy to do too much too fast.

Gourmet - I know.

Shanky - Boss. Two other dudes, too.

Dadfael - Let's take the adds first.

Shanky - I'll sap the boss and we'll grab both.

Lotharion - Can we down them fast enough?

Shanky - Have some faith in your DPS, dad.

Lotharion - I don't do DPS.

Shanky - I mean us. We've got it.

Gourmet - Ready?

Lotharion - Alright. (Shanky saps, and they attack. They kill the first mob fast, but then the sap gets broken. The boss goes for Dadfael)

Dadfael - Inc!

Lotharion - Surrounded by softies. Taunt!

(The Boss ignores the taunt and keeps coming.)

Shanky - Who's a softie? Backstab!

(The Boss goes to her)

Lotharion - You're not in plate, you're a softie. Hamstring!

(Boss switches to him)

Dadfael - Whoo. I thought I was toast right there. She is fearless, isn't she.

Gourmet - Yes, she is.

Dadfael - I hope you're going to keep her.

Gourmet - Well - yes, I hope so. (Mob dies) Can we not talk about this right now. I mean advice is fine but can it be when we're not gaming? Curse of agony.

Dadfael - When else do I see you? I figured you might not want to talk about it over the dinner table. Shadow word pain.

Gourmet - Well, no, but I'm concentrating.

Dadfael - You can multitask.

Gourmet - I'd rather not, though.

Dadfael - It's just a game. (Boss dies) I just don't want it to go unsaid.

Gourmet - I love her, dad.

Shanky - Staff. Stam, int, shadow damage.

Gourmet - Ooh.

Shanky - You like?

Gourmet - Yes please.

Shanky - Happy birthday.

Gourmet - It's not my birthday.

Shanky - Happy whatever you'd like, then. (To all) We set?

Dadfael - Yep.

Shanky - Alright. (To Lotharion) What?

Lotharion - How long have you been together?

Shanky - A year. Why?

Lotharion - Are you having sex?

Shanky - Dad!

Lotharion - Well the way you act makes me worry. I just don't want you to do anything you'll regret.

Shanky - I don't.

Lotharion - Could you be any more ambiguous, there, sweetheart?

Shanky - Last boss up ahead.

Dadfael - So are you gonna ask her dad about marrying her?

Gourmet - Well, you know, once we get there, I mean once I've asked her I'll let him know. But it's not his call, as far as I see it.

Dadfael - I know. He probably knows, too. You don't ask because it's his call, you ask to reassure him and her mom.

Gourmet - I should treat her like a piece of property so they can be reassured? That's not how I work. Corruption.

Lotharion - (As he attacks) I know you're an adult, but even adults can be blindsided if they don't have a lot of experience. Shield bash.

Shanky - It's not an obstacle course, it's a relationship. I'm being careful. You think I'm an adult, then let me make my own choices. Rupture.

Lotharion - Your own mistakes, too? Taunt.

Shanky - Sooner or later, yes.

Lotharion - I'd prefer later.

Shanky - Me too.

Dadfael - It's just, speaking from experience, parents care a lot about their children. Greater heal.

Gourmet - Well we'll tell him. Once we get to that point, once we've decided. He can judge for himself. Curse of Exhaustion.

Lotharion - I certainly wouldn't think much of him if you're sleeping together and he hasn't even talked to me yet. Disarm.

Shanky - He's a good man whether you think so or not. And if I have my way he's sticking around. Kidney shot.

Lotharion - If I had my way he'd be good enough to do things right. Devastate.

Dadfael - You know you could be making things harder for both of them. Group heal.

Gourmet - Dad you brought me up to do what's right even if it pisses people off. Shadowbolt. Well it's our relationship. I'm gonna treat her right first. Everyone else is secondary. Soul drain.

Dadfael - It might not be smart but I can respect it. Oh! Aggro!

Shanky - Blade flurry. Well you don't get to have your way, dad. You had a kid, she's grown up now, and she's going to live her own life. I'm not going to live it how you want. I hope you can love me anyway, because that's the only choice you have.

Dadfael - Crap! I'm dead.

Gourmet - Use your healthstone!

Dadfael - I - (He dies) Sorry.

Lotharion - Sweetheart, loving you is not a choice. Loving you is who I am. Last stand. Nobody deserves you if they love you less than I do. (He kills the last mob, and the boss kills him. Boss turns on Shanky.)

Shanky - Evasion! Oh crap.

Gourmet - Searing pain. (Boss turns to him)

Shanky - Sweetheart!

Gourmet - Drain life. Trust me.

Shanky - Hemorrhage.

Gourmet - Shit. Drain life!

Shanky - Hold on hold on hold on Eviscerate! (Boss goes down)

Gourmet - My hero.

Shanky - I love you too.

Dadfael - Did you make it?

Gourmet - Yeah, dad.

Lotharion - We're on our way.

Shanky - We'll be waiting for you.
