I'm getting a one-bedroom apartment in the same complex as Amanda, I think. Everything else that I've found is far away from work and from Amanda. I've added it up, and I think I can cover housing, bills, and food for less than a thousand dollars a month, since the apartment itself would be about $600. So, I've done three days of work for the paper sofar. Thursday was training, pretty much, but on Friday and Saturday I did pages. 'Doing pages' entails rather a lot. My main job is 2A, so I get a health article, some birthdays, some deaths, some 'this day in history' things, some celebrity stories, and some big interesting thing in the region. ( Read more... )

I called one of my references yesterday only to find that the number was wrong, either because he got promoted recently (which I know he did) or because I screwed up (which I might have done). Well, I had my interview with the Managing Editor at the MDJ today. He was friendly, and told me more about the job. He said that they don't normally hire people without experience at a daily, but that "[my] critique of the newspaper was definitely in [my] favor." I have an interview with the Managing Editor of the Marietta Daily Journal on Thursday. I emailed him my resume and a list of the errors that I noticed in the Saturday and Sunday editions along with my corrections. He called me a few hours later.
